The Industrial Revolution changed the manufacturing of once hand crafted materials, fabrics were made in minutes and not hours. The creativity in fabrics was lost to function and profit. But over the last 50 years what it means to produce textiles has changed.

Now there are a high number of people across the world making innovative and interesting textiles, pushing the boundaries of what it means for a textile to be a textile. From exploring textiles in dance and theatre, to looking at the use in science and technology, then looking at pushing the boundaries in more traditional areas of fashion and interiors. There are many new developments in the making of textiles and this has led to interesting and innovative fabrics being made.
