Summer Exhibition of Textile Art by Jo Deeley

Summer Exhibition

I make textiles by taking methods of plaiting, knotting and folding to create interesting surfaces and shapes. There are many types of thread manipulating techniques from different sources, from knots holding ropes in place on a boat, to knotting macramé or friendship bracelets, or the different types of plaits you can do on someone’s hair to decorate it and keep it in place. I expand on these techniques and explore how I can make constructive fabrics by folding them or using yarns and knotting or plaiting them.

At the end of graduation I put on an exhibition of my final year’s work. This gallery shows the installation.
